Opportunities for young people abound at Shir Tikvah, with fun and meaningful learning and community experiences for our littlest tots, our high school seniors, and everyone in between.
For more information, please contact Forrest Yesnes, Director of Youth Education and Programming, via email (Forrest@ShirTikvah.net) or by calling the Shir Tikvah office (612.822.1440).
We are overjoyed to welcome our youngest into the community with baby-namings, Tot Shabbat, and more! Come celebrate and learn with us.

Mishpacha ('family', in Hebrew) is our twice-monthly class wherein pre-Kindergarteners attend with their parent(s)/guardian(s). Together, families learn about Jewish culture through game, theater, song, dance, and more.

Over 200 students engage in Jewish community and learning each week. Students gather in age groups and together experience Jewish tradition and values, hear stories and study text, and learn about and create ritual. Religious School provides students a chance, fueled by Jewish faith and practice, to find their places in the world as lifelong mensches and pursuers of justice. Young people emerge from their time in class energized by our faculty, staff, and clergy, connected to their peers, and invested in exploring their faith at Shir Tikvah and beyond.
Religious School meets Sundays, 9:30am to 11:30am, unless otherwise noted.
Over 100 students engage in Hebrew language acquisition, prayer learning, and community each week. Students gather in age groups and together study the Hebrew alphabet (Aleph-Bet) and learn about prayer and worship. Hebrew School provides students a chance, inspired by our texts, to wrestle with G-d and develop relationship with prayers. This five year journey culminates in but is not limited to our students becoming B'nei Mitzvah. Our weekly evening service during school invites students to build a prayer practice around what they are learning in classes, and highlights student leadership.
Hebrew School meets Wednesdays, either 4:30pm to 6:30pm or 6pm to 8pm.
Junior Youth Group (JYG)
JYG is our middle school youth group, where 6th through 8th graders come together for joyous and meaningful gatherings at Shir Tikvah and offsite. In the last few years, we have visited an apple orchard, roller-skated, participated in events to combat homelessness, and of course slept over at Shir Tikvah on many a Shabbat.
