| Class on Israel in July at Shir Tikvah: | | “The State of Israel: A Guide for the Perplexed” is a three–class seminar held at Shir Tikvah on Wednesdays, July 7, 14, and 21, at 7:00 pm. Rabbinic intern Jason Rodich, who has just returned from a year in Israel, will teach this series, which aims to provide a broad introduction to Israel, with a focus on participants gaining a deeper sense of their own relationship to Israel and Zionism.
History, Zionism, modern politics, the Israeli–Palestinian conflict, and Israeli culture will be covered. The course will end with a festive evening of Israeli food and culture. The goal is for participants to leave with a clearer understanding of what Israel means for themselves and the Jewish people.
The registration deadline is July 1. The cost is $36 before July 1; $45 after. Scholarships are available. Please contact the rabbi’s assistant, Holly Fields, at (612) 822-1440 or holly@shirtikvah.net, to register.
