Text: Ot L'Baot Torah Aura Productions
Phonetic Reading:
The students are introduced to all the letters and vowels throughout the year of Hebrew.
Each lesson is accompanied with vocabulary words ("Letter vocabulary")
which start with the new letter. The student will learn how to write and read the
script of each letter.
Basic vocabulary:
Along with the "Letter vocabulary" there are units that teach basic
elements of spoken Hebrew, focusing primarily on nouns.
Siddur Vocabulary:
At the end of the 6th lesson, the students will have acquired enough
letters to begin to do reading exercises that include siddur words.
By the 13th lesson, they will be able to begin reading siddur phrases.
By the end of the book, they will be able to read partial or
full prayers as part of the reading drill rotation.
History of Modern Hebrew: (Mahir' Story):
Through a character in the book (Mahir a bilingual dog), the students are
introduced to the creation and introduction of Modern Hebrew to Israel.
Modern Israel (Daber Ivrit):
The students will learn about life in Israel through the eyes of an
American student (Micah) living in Israel with his family for a year.
Topics such as Shabbat in Israel, the Israeli Classroom and going
to the doctor are covered in the Daber Ivrit units.
These help our students connect to daily life in Israel.
