Lifelong Learning
At Shir Tikvah, we recognize that wisdom is a process, not a destination. It is truly a life-long pursuit, and one that can be enjoyed along the way! Together, we creatively wrestle with tradition and innovation as we celebrate Shabbat, honor lifecycle events and holidays, study sacred texts and Torah, explore prayer and the Hebrew language, learn about our peoples' history, grapple with Jewish ethics, and take an active role in mitzvot as we strive for tikkun olam - repairing the world.
We are guided by a peoplehood that has eternally prioritized bettering ourselves and the world around us through Jewish knowledge, literacy, and intellectual growth. We are on a constant search for new ideas and new people with whom to learn. Our goal is to connect the insights of generations of Jewish teachings with the knowledge of our own age. Here at Shir Tikvah, we come together as a k'hilah k'dosha - a holy community - to study, learn, and grow together. Lifelong Learning at Shir Tikvah invites tots, young people, and adults to come as they are, be appropriately challenged, and grow to be literate students of Jewish life and conscious members of a growing Jewish and global community.

Our Vision of Lifelong Learning
Shir Tikvah will be a welcoming, sacred Jewish community of learners of every age, ability, perspective, and background. Learners will engage in holy conversations about Torah, concepts of God, Judaism, Israel, and relevant issues of today’s world in all their exhilarating, challenging, and profound forms. We will encounter innovative and flexible learning models in rhythm with Jewish holidays, lifecycle events, and Shabbat. Our learning will cultivate Jewish identity, build community, and inspire us to live in harmony with our Jewish ethics.

Lifelong learning is thriving at Shir Tikvah – from Tot Shabbat, to Hebrew School, to adult education classes, and everything in between. But where do we want it to go? What is the best it can be? Our Lifelong Learning Vision helps to define the values and goals for lifelong learning at Shir Tikvah. It serves as the theme for developing specific programs and as a guidepost by which to measure the success of each experience.

Wherever you are in this journey - we welcome you! Join us in our pursuit of wisdom and community!
