Engagement & Resources in the Time of Covid 19

Are you or an immediate family member Covid-19 positive? PLEASE reach out to Sara or one of our Clergy to let us know. While The JFCS/JFS offers comprehensive support for folks dealing with the emotional/practical/financial issues from COVID, our Clergy and Caring Committee are also aware and concerned with providing ample support for our community, and would like to nourish you in any way we can.

Shir Tikvah’s Caring Community is comprised of volunteers committed to helping fellow congregants is times of need, by providing meals, attending shivas, and sending cards.

We hope to extend our support to those who have COVID or are worn down by living in a COVID world, by offering practical, social and emotional support. This includes:

  • Deliver meals (no contact) like we currently do for those who are sick
  • Run errands (no contact)
  • Visit the homebound via phone or Zoom (bikur cholim)
  • Provide energetic healing (virtually). This requires experience in Reiki and energy healing
  • Plan game nights: We already have a knitting circle, a cookbook project, and game nights in the works.

If you are able to volunteer or would like to participate in a virtual get together, contact Eileen Rosenthal

Accessibility Work

Radical Hospitality is a critical element of Shir Tikvah's vision to transform the world. If you'd like to contribute to hachnasat orchim, our live captioning team needs a boost! If you can show up once a month to either type OR copy/paste, you are qualified. Our team will joyfully welcome you, train you, and back you up as we grow together in this practice of radical hospitality. Contact Alison for more information!

Climate Justice Minyan

We will be a place for us to build relationships, grieve, learn, and strategize Shir Tikvah's role in the local climate justice movement. Please email Khesed and/or fill out this google form if you are interested in participating. No experience necessary and all are needed!"

Immigrant Justice Work

Shir Tikvah is in a network of religious congregations engaging in Immigrant Justice work. The network provides direct assistance to those who have gone into sanctuary for various reasons and need immediate help, and now requires even more urgency with the impact of Coronavirus. Please consider a donation to our Sanctuary effort. When making your gift on GiveMN, check “add a dedication” then on the “who” line type “sanctuary.”

AmazonSmile

We are aware that many of you may not support or use Amazon services generally and, in particular, some may be feeling concern for those who continue to work in order to provide so many of us with essential items via delivery. We also know that many of our members are depending on delivery services to stay safe during this time. As always, we encourage you to make choices that are best for you. If you do choose to use Amazon, please consider supporting this community by selecting Shir Tikvah as your charitable organization using the link: smile.amazon.com.

We also encourage writing a comment in support of Amazon workers under “Customer Service - Contact Amazon”.
